This week's blog is about Whales ... The winter months are my favourite on Phillip Island, because the whales comes back to visit us.
And this means I get to work with the powerful energy of Whale.
A lot of people ask me about Animal Spirit guides and their messages ...
I've had a wonderful encounter with Whale on my morning walk this month. A juvenile Southern Right Whale played all day just off the beach in front of Woolamai House. It's only my 2nd close up whale encounter ever!
This encounter was unusual / out of the ordinary ... so that is how I KNOW that it was a message for me.
Animal Spirit Guides are always communicating with us.
Sometimes in real life, on the TV, in dreams, in 'random' conversations or a combination of all of these.
For example, when you see 3 (or more) of the same animal in a short space of time or you have an encounter / interaction with an animal that is odd or out of character - then you are definitely being given a message.
*Note - when I talk about Animal Spirit Guides, I will refer to them as Whale, Echidna or Eagle - because that is their name.
And so I got out my Animal Spirit Guide book (by Scott Alexander King) and I looked up what Whale was trying to tell me:
WHALE means: Record keeper.
Whale asks us to remember the Earth as our Mother and to reconnect with her and the soul connection we forged at the beginning of time. Whale is the keeper of the Earth Mother's sacred records. Whale helps us remember the spiritual history of the areas most significant to our personal journey and offers ways to enhance our medicine, our lives and the planet as a whole. It is said that people who work with Whale hold within their DNA the ability to comprehend the sound frequencies encoded in the audible rhythms and vibrations emitted from the great mammal. Whale helps us remember our personal truth and wisdom.

This weeks blog is about how Reiki energy healing can relieve your cold.
So, what is your cold / flu rating right now?
Low ... I'm good, no pain, no aches, no issues, ... feeling just okay but could use some maintenance - just in case!
Medium ... I'm on the edge, nose and throat are scratchy, some aches, maybe a little uncomfortable in the stomach and joints.
High ... I've tipped over the edge into cold and flu land, headache, sore throat, cough, sneezing, pain in sinuses, ... the works! Thanks for asking.

I have just come to the end of my first cold in about 5 years.
SERIOUSLY! ... I moved down to Phillip Island and changed my whole life of stress to a more relaxed, calm and healing life.
And I am SO glad I did.
But I admit I have been burning the candle at both ends this month.
Writing my new business plan.
Running my business.
Looking for part time work.
So, when my throat started to scratch I thought I could 'get rid of it' by just drinking some echinacea and lemon tea.
Not this time.
I'd pushed my body too far.
So, I had to bring out the big guns.
Last week I wrote a blog about the 8 tips to boost your immunity (check it out for more ideas to take care of yourself).
I have to tell you that there is one thing I missed off that list.

I am here today to let you know that even I forget to use my skills sometimes. Everyone is fallible.
So, as my throat got scratchier, my nose got runnier, and my head got achier ... I realised I needed to do less DOING and more RESTING.

This week’s blog is about boosting your immunity.
I always hear people say in winter ... ‘now I need to work on my immunity because it’s colder’ ... interestingly just because the weather is colder doesn’t mean you are going to get a cold.
Some people get through winter, years of winters and all the seasons without getting a cold. Why? Because they are keeping their immune system healthy.
Here are 8 tips to help you feel good in winter (and all year long):
1. Get moving ... exercise (just 30 minutes a day) can significantly improve your overall health.
2. Eat a more balanced diet ... by reducing packet foods and eating more real foods. If you are not sure what you need to do ... *see Bianca and the team at Angel’s Health Food for a caring and professional consultation about your unique body.
3. Get more sleep ... adults ideally need 7-8 hours per night. We reset and rejuvenate our bodies when we sleep.
4. Meditate ... it is proven to help you sleep, digest and de-stress ... *see Pip for meditation classes, meditation CD or private one-on-one meditation sessions.
5. Take a vacation ... stress is the biggest cause of illness in the western world. We need to take time off to rest. Our bodies cannot be sustained with constant stress. Even a long weekend can help to re-balance our system.
6. Reduce alcohol ... there is some evidence that a glass of red wine a day is good for the heart. My grandfathers had a sherry every night. I say we are here on this earth to enjoy life and so the key with alcohol is moderation.
7. Quit smoking ... this one has no good side effects (sorry). The smoke decreases the effectiveness of the immune system and increases the risk of lots of issues in the body.
8. Drama detox ... take some time out from any gossip, watching the news, Facebook or YouTube videos, and friends who are complainers. You’ll feel 100% better in less than a week.
Your immunity is affected by the choices you make, the way you move, the things you eat, the people you interact with and the spaces you visit.

This week's blog is about the connection between anxiety and your digestive system.
Yes ... hmmm ... I hear you say. "But Pip, how does my anxiety level really affect my gut?"
There are two types of people ... which one are you?
Some people say they eat more when they are anxious or stressed.
Some people say they can't eat when they are anxious or stressed.
Either way your digestive system is getting affected by your emotions.
So, how do you notice that your gut is being negatively affected?
You may feel bloated.
You may feel gassy.
You may feel churned up.
You may feel pain.
You may feel a heavy weight.
And how do you deal with these symptoms?
Take a digestive pill or liquid.
Take a pain reliever.
Then how do you feel?
Usually it is a temporary fix and you have to keep repeating the masking of the symptoms behaviour.
It's not very healthy right?
I'd like to suggest a couple of ways to help you that work really well.
They are healthy, non-addictive and fun.
2. Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture.
Meditation ... has been used for thousands of years to calm the mind, ease anxiety, relieve pain and bring peace to the body. There are many different ways to meditate.
You can sit in the garden and watch the birds.
You can vacuum your floor while listening to calming music.
You can lie on your yoga mat or your bed and breath deeply.
You can swim laps and count your strokes.
You can chant 'om' or 'shanti shanti shanti'.
You can even keep your eyes open and watch the waves, a candle flame or the clouds rolling by.
How ever you choose to do it, doesn't matter. It is about giving yourself time to rest. A moment to reset. Space to breath.
We DO entirely too much on a daily basis.
It's time to BE more.
Meditation has now been proven to reduce heart attacks, blood pressure, headaches, breathing issues, digestive concerns and much more ...
