Shout OUT FROM MIAMI !!

This week's blog is about putting yourself out there ...
Sometimes it feels scary to go out and try something new.
Or meet new people.
Or go to a class you've never tried before.
Or show someone your new book idea. *wink*
I had a wonderful experience on Sunday morning with a dear friend of mine who has a radio show in Miami, Florida.
He worked on the cruise ships with me about 10 years ago.
I had reconnected with him on LinkedIn and he told me that he would give me a 'shout out' and mention my soon to be launched book on his radio show.
I was nervous ... but o
f course, I tuned in at 9am Sunday Melbourne time / 7pm Miami time.
They speak mostly in Spanish on the show, so I couldn't really understand what they were saying (I'm out of practise) ... but he did the shout out to me in English - which was awesome.
**I've posted the video of it on my Facebook business page - click on the link below:
Pip Coleman - Conscious Courses and Therapies.
What was truly wonderful was that I felt really connected and included in that radio show, and yet there are thousands of miles between Phillip Island and Miami.
Lately, I've been practicing doing something that 'scares' me every day.
I'm choosing to do rock climbing and boxing and writing a book ...
It doesn't have to be terrifying ... but it does have to push you out of your comfort zone.
It could be calling that person you've been meaning to call.
Or writing that email that you've been procrastinating about.
Or maybe just going to a Doctor or Naturopath or Counsellor to ask the question you need to ask.
As spiritual beings we are always been pushed to grow and expand.
I believe we feel pain (emotionally, mentally, physically) when we resist that expansion.
The pain is our resistance to the soul's request to raise your vibration.
Think about it ...
Don't you always feel 'stuckness' or pain when you are faced with a choice or decision you are NOT making?
We can get stagnant, stuck, boring and even sick if we stay in our comfort zone.
Choose expansion ... it's good for your health.
Blessings

ARE YOU BATTLING THROUGH ALONE?

This week's blog is about asking for help ...
I grew up with parents who taught me to be independent. I am the eldest of 5 children, so I helped look after the 'kids' and learned very quickly how to take care of myself.
I am not saying that I wasn't loved, there was an abundance of love.
I am saying that we were all taught to cook, clean and problem solve without needing to ask for help.
Yes, these are great skills. Very important for living in the world.
Those of you with big families will resonate with that I'm sure.

One of the downsides to this is that I struggle to ask for help when I really need it.
I find myself 'battling through' rather than reaching out to others to make life easier.
And when I do reach out I have a feeling of guilt and shame that washes over me because I wasn't able to do it alone.
Anyone else feel this way?
Of course you do.

Our society has evolved (strangely) to be very 'separate-focused'.
We are told that we need to 'soldier on' and 'push through' illness.
We are told that having a perfect nuclear family (2 adults and 2 kids) that live in their own house, completely separate from our extended family.
We are told there is not enough and that we have to compete for resources.
We are told that it's not okay to support each other.
I don't think anyone can honestly argue that this is healthy!

In indigenous communities around the world they base their community on sharing and supporting one another.
They base their societal values on the laws of nature.
All things are in balance in nature because each animal and element and plant supports those around them.
It is only humans that don't follow the laws of nature.
We override and ignore them.
We have been arrogant and naive.

So, my wisdom today is to remind you that you are part of the natural cycle of the world (and the Universe).
You are a significant ingredient in the recipe.
You are genuinely important.
You matter.

And in knowing this, I'd like to remind you that you are allowed and deserve to be helped, supported and nurtured.
You can and must ask for help.
It is what we are supposed to do.
It is our purpose to support and nurture each other.

And it is my purpose to remind you to accept yourself, honour how you feel and what you need .... and allow others to help you.
You are worthy.
I see you.

Nanna, are you still there?

This week's blog is about how to receive messages from your departed loved ones ...
We have had a very emotional two weeks on the island.
People who knew Sam Fraser, people who have been personally affected by domestic violence and others who have not, have ALL been significantly moved by the events.
In a small community a tragedy is felt deeply.

When a loved one dies ... I prefer to call say 'transitions' from this earthly realm) to the non-physical realm ... we experience a feeling of loss.
We are used to having them right here to hug and touch and talk to.
We feel sad that we cannot speak to them anymore.
We feel disappointed that we cannot feel them anymore.

But I'm here to tell you that this is not the truth.
After they leave their bodies your loved ones become fully their soul.
They are still your loved ones.
They are still nearby.
They still want to hear what you have to say.
They still want to connect with you.
They are actually waiting for YOU to be in the right head space (or perhaps I should say heart space) to do it.

That's why lots of times the messages come in dream-state or meditation because that is when we are most open, relaxed and allowing.
John Holland says that there are a number of different ways that our loved ones will try to communicate.

In his book 'Bridging Two Realms' he lists the most common ways:
1. Dream visitations - these feel like actual conversations (because they ARE!) ... it's not like a normal dream that fades away after you wake up. It feels like a memory. It lingers and it has strong emotional content. It is always a loving, forgiving conversation. There is not pain or drama.

2. Butterflies and Birds - messengers of the other realm. Our loved ones know that they have to be subtle because if they just showed up in our kitchen it would freak us out. So they send sweet messengers to say 'hello' and 'i love you'. Are you watching out for them?

3. Music - songs on the radio or songs that 'randomly' pop into your head that remind you of your loved one. That's them sending you that message. Listen to that. Feel the love. Enjoy the memory.

4. Feeling of being hugged or touched - perhaps you've felt like someone was touching your hair or your cheek or maybe even hugging you as you fell asleep. This is your loved ones making contact. You are getting these feelings all the time but during the day you might dismiss it as the wind or a bug. There are too many distractions.

5. Smells - if you get a wiff of a perfume or cigarette or a flower or something baking that doesn't fit with the current surroundings. This is your loved one sending you a message. Take note. Smile and know they are saying 'I'm nearby.'

When I first started getting messages from my Nanna from the other realm, she would literally bump into me while I was meditating.
I remember I would close my eyes, take a deep breath and then I would feel like a giant beach ball was bounced at my head.
My head actually moved to the side.
But when I opened my eyes, nothing was there.
It took a little while for me to realise that someone was trying to communicate with me.
I didn't know it was my Nanna until a a medium told me little while later.

Now days my Nanna makes me sneeze and then I can smell her Chanel No.5 talc. She's funny. Just like she was when she was in her body.

She has been very close by as I have been writing my book.
It has been wonderful to feel her near.
When I know she is near I say "Oh hi Nanna! How are you?"
And I wait and listen and feel for her response.
Then I ask "What do you need me to know today?"
And I wait and listen and feel for her response.

Sometimes it is an encouraging 'Well done! I am so proud of you.'
And sometimes it is 'I love what you just wrote. Other people will too.'
And sometimes it is just 'I'm here. Let me know if you need me.'

I know that is what she is saying because I have been practising mediumship (communicating with departed loved ones) since 2006.
It means I can hear, see and feel my own loved ones who have crossed over to the other realm.
And ... I can hear, see and feel yours too.

Let me know if you want to have a mediumship reading or come to a class to learn how to communicate with your loved ones.

WHAT'S THAT HAMMERING SOUND?

This week's blog is about noise ... and how to incorporate it into your relaxation and healing routine.

A few weeks ago two large trucks arrived on my street and delivered a house in the block behind my rental. I remember a friend of mine doing this years ago. It was fascinating to watch them off-load the house (in two parts) and put it back together again. Creative ingenuity at it's best.

Over the last week in the mornings I have been hearing distant tapping, sawing and hammering. It's not loud really, just on the edge of my awareness I can hear it as I wake up each day.

In the past I've had some issues ... as you all have had I'm sure ... with houses being built next to us and let's call them 'creation sounds' have been very intrusive to my sleep patterns.
This can be frustrating.
It can be really difficult to manage.

It got me thinking again about how noise is a constant in our world.
I am very lucky that I live on an island where there is not a lot of human-made noise.
I can hear cars and trucks on the road.
I can hear people and buses at the bus stop.
I can hear motorbikes (during MotoGP time).
But mostly it's just the birds in the trees and the wind.

For those of you who live in cities around the world ... I get that must sound blissful and slightly annoying that I would bother to mention a distant hammering noise, but it has reminded me of a meditation technique that I used to teach my New York City guests when I worked on cruise ships.

The NYC guests were a SUPER wound up and highly strung group of human beings. And so they should be!

It's one of those cities in the world goes 100 miles an hour 24/7. So, you'd expect there to be a lot of noise, it's just part of the landscape.

One of the meditation techniques that can be brilliant in this noisy space, I learned from a Buddhist Monk.
It was called 'Only listening while listening.'

The concept is pretty simple ... and it can take a bit of practice ... new things usually do ... be kind to yourself.

Basically you sit or lie down, with no music ...
Begin to breath gently in and out.
Become mindful of your body and make sure you are comfortable.
Your breath will naturally deepen as you relax into this space.
Then begin your 'only listening while listening' ...
Don't analyse what you hear ... that's using your MIND.
This meditation is about using your FEELING EARS.
Just listen. Feel. Let Go. Listen. Feel. Let Go. Listen. Feel. Let Go.

Sometimes you will find a sound, or sounds, that have a consistency to them, a rhythm if you will. The sound of a train or cars driving past can actually relax you if you let the sound go over and past you.

The idea is to allow and surrender. Let go.

We spend a lot of our lives holding onto things ... fights, situations, beliefs, conversations, noises ... things that don't make us feel good.
Why do we do that to ourselves?
I believe our purpose as Human Beings is not to struggle but to find the joy and experience all the wonders that life has to offer.

If you'd like to learn some more meditation techniques, you can join a meditation class on Monday @7pm or Friday @10am ... or you can go to my Facebook business page and try some free mini-meditations.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
