Interestingly, scientists have confirmed that this is TRUE ...
The concept is that when you meditate you can change the way you breathe, the focus of your mind, the level of stress in your body and you can subsequently change the bio-chemistry of your body. Well-Being Magazine has referred to an interesting study which concluded that '... just eight hours of meditation is enough to alter your genetic expression in such a way that inflammation is reduced and your response to stress is enhanced.' One of the leading teachers of meditation, Dr. Deepak Chopra says that: '... our body is the best pharmacy in the world and is capable of making wonder drugs.' and '... one can naturally prevail over serious life challenges by becoming more attuned to one's body.' Dr. Masuru Emoto notes that water can be significantly affected by sound, energy and vibration. The human body is made up of 70% water. He notes that the cells in our body react to energy and that continuous exposure to negative energy (eg. stress) can result in sick and diseased cells. But positive energy (eg. meditation) can change the cells' structure in a healthy way. So he also asserts that we can alter our DNA. There is something to meditate on. **References: Dr. Deepak Chopra (www.chopra.com), Dr. Masuru Emoto (The Hidden Messages in Water) & Wellbeing Magazine (Dec 2013)

10/8/2014 0 Comments MEDITATION TIPSOften when we meditate, we find ourselves wondering about the experiences we are having during the meditation period. At times, we judge ourselves and maybe even feel frustration as we notice our distracted mind and body. Many of us are certain we are far from enlightened because we are just not doing it 'right'. As you may have realized there are five things that generally happen in meditation:
* You repeat the mantra / breathing technique / chant or see the visualization * You have thoughts, feelings, sensations, maybe even tears at times * You have thoughts and repeat the mantra / breathing technique / chant at the same time * You slip into a place of stillness, the space that feels like a glorious breath between your thoughts * You fall asleep If you are experiencing any or all of these occurrences, your practice of meditation is perfectly normal. Know that each moment, exactly as it is, provides an opportunity to just 'be' in the present. Let yourself ride the waves of your unique experience, relax into the now and gently go with the flow. Give yourself permission to respond with gratitude for the unique experience of being alive and trust that the benefits of meditation with unfold for your in a myriad of ways.
