Summary
This week we’re diving into the profound connection between menopause and the energies of the autumn equinox. We will explore how these two natural processes mirror each other and allow guidance from your divine support team of grandmothers that will provide deep insights to inner wisdom during this sacred transition.

This week on the 21st of March as we experienced the Autumn equinox, I was reflecting on the similarities in the energies between the season of Autumn and the menopause transition. I remembered that the medicine wheels from many indigenous cultures that I have studied (and taught in my psychic development classes) encourage us to deeply embrace and work with the seasons in a year in the same way as the seasons in our life.
Flow with, rather than against, energy is always the core wisdom.
Easier said than done though, right?
There’s a moment in autumn…
just before the leaves fully let go…
when the light softens, the air shifts, and something inside you goes quiet.
You can feel it.
Not just around you.
Within you.
And if you’re in midlife—moving through menopause or standing on its threshold—
that feeling isn’t accidental.
It’s not just hormonal.
It’s a calling.
A recalibration.
A sacred turning point.
Because what if what you’re experiencing right now…
isn’t something going wrong—
—but something ancient beginning to awaken?
The Autumn Equinox: A Portal, Not Just a Date
The autumn equinox is often described as a moment of balance—
equal light and dark.
But energetically, it’s so much more than that.
It’s a threshold.
A doorway between seasons.
Between ways of being.
Between who you’ve been… and who you’re becoming.
The energy begins to draw inward.
Nature stops striving.
The external world softens its grip.
And in that softening… something else becomes louder.
Your inner voice.
Your intuition.
The quiet whispers you’ve been too busy to hear.
This is the season where the veil thins.
Where guidance becomes more accessible.
Where you are no longer meant to push forward—
but to listen inward.
Menopause: Your Inner Autumn
Menopause mirrors this exact transition.
Your body begins to change its rhythm.
Your energy shifts.
What once felt easy now feels heavy.
What once felt tolerable… no longer does.
And it can feel confusing.
Disorienting.
Even confronting.
But what if your body isn’t breaking down—
what if it’s redirecting you?
What if the fatigue is asking you to stop overriding yourself?
What if the emotional waves are releasing what you’ve carried for too long?
What if the sensitivity is actually your intuition sharpening?
This is not dysfunction.
This is initiation.
Your body is leading you inward—
just as the Earth does in autumn.
During this transition, I experienced feeling a level of sensitivity and anger and anxiousness that was foreign to me. And I had always thought of myself as a very chilled out kind of person. A lot of my frustration was caused by not understanding what happens during menopause but also resisting the emotions because they were not acceptable to express and thinking I was ‘wrong’ or ‘broken’.
You Are Not Going Through This Alone
This is the part so many women feel… but don’t always have language for.
During this time, something unseen begins to draw closer.
Your ancestors.
Your guides.
Your mothers.
Your grandmothers.
The deeper parts of your soul that have been waiting for this moment.
You may notice it as:
• A deeper pull toward stillness
• More vivid dreams
• A heightened emotional awareness
• A sense that something is shifting… even if you can’t explain it
This isn’t imagined.
This is connection.
Because menopause isn’t just biological—
it’s ancestral.
The women who came before you walked this path.
And now, in this phase of your life, their wisdom begins to rise through you.
You are not walking into this alone.
You are being walked.
The Sacred Unravelling
Autumn doesn’t ask the trees to hold onto their leaves.
And menopause won’t let you hold onto what no longer fits.
This is where it can feel the most intense.
The identities you’ve carried… begin to loosen.
The roles you’ve played… start to feel too small.
The patterns of over-giving, over-functioning, over-carrying… become unbearable.
And it’s tempting to think:
“What’s wrong with me?”
But nothing is wrong.
What’s happening is deeply intelligent.
You are being asked to release what you were never meant to carry this far.
Not as a punishment.
As a preparation.
Because you cannot step into the next version of yourself
while holding onto everything from the last.
When Sensitivity Is Actually Awakening
So many women describe this phase as overwhelming.
Heightened emotions.
Anxiety.
Irritability.
A sense of being “too much” or “not yourself.”
But what if this sensitivity isn’t a flaw?
What if it’s an opening?
Your nervous system is becoming more attuned.
Your awareness is expanding.
Your tolerance for misalignment is disappearing.
You are no longer able to numb what you feel.
Because you’re not meant to.
You’re meant to respond to it.
To honour it.
To trust it.
What feels like overwhelm…
is often unrecognised guidance.
The Invitation to Let Go
Autumn teaches us something powerful:
Letting go is not failure.
It’s wisdom.
In this season of your life, you are being invited to release:
• The need to be everything for everyone
• The habit of putting yourself last
• The identities built on obligation rather than truth
• The constant pushing, striving, proving
This is not about losing yourself.
It’s about returning to yourself.
You might feel the urge to simplify your life.
To step back.
To create space.
Follow that.
It’s not regression.
It’s alignment.
** NOTE: this reminds me of a beautiful poem by Oriah Mountain Dreamer ‘The Invitation’ and there is a powerful line about ‘opening the fist clenched in wanting’ … which I adore. I did an audio recording of it a while ago. It might be nice to find and share again.
The Harvest You Didn’t Expect
As the leaves fall… something else becomes visible.
The structure of the tree.
The strength of its trunk.
The truth of what remains.
This is your harvest.
Not external achievements.
Internal clarity.
Boundaries that feel natural, not forced.
A deeper trust in your own knowing.
A quiet confidence that doesn’t need validation.
You begin to speak differently.
Choose differently.
Show up differently.
Because you are no longer seeking your truth.
You are embodying it.
This is the emergence of the Wise Woman.
Not something you learn.
Something you remember.
Working With This Season (Not Against It)
You don’t need to force your way through this.
You’re not meant to.
This is a season of co-creation—with your body, your soul, and the unseen support around you.
Start simply.
Sit in stillness and ask:
What am I being shown right now?
Place a hand on your body … I like to put one hand on my heart or one on my belly —
not to fix it, but to listen.
Create a small ritual of release.
Write down what you’re ready to let go of…
and offer it back to the Earth.
Light a candle.
Invite in your guides, your ancestors, your support.
And most importantly—
Let yourself slow down.
Without guilt.
You Are Crossing a Threshold
The autumn equinox reminds us that balance isn’t about staying the same.
It’s about allowing the shift.
Allowing the light to fade… so something deeper can emerge.
And that’s exactly what’s happening within you.
This is not the end of who you were.
This is the beginning of who you came here to be.
So if things feel like they’re falling away…
trust that.
If you feel different…
trust that.
If something inside you is calling you inward…
trust that.
Because as the Earth turns toward darkness—
you are turning toward truth.
And you are being guided every step of the way.
An Invitation
If you’re feeling this… deeply…
If you know there’s something more beneath what you’re experiencing—
something meaningful, something sacred—
you’re not imagining it.
And you don’t have to navigate it alone.
There is a way to understand what your body, your energy, and your guidance are trying to show you.
A way to move through this initiation feeling supported…
held…
and deeply connected to who you’re becoming.
