Past Menopause… What Now? Welcome to No-Woman’s-Land

Updated: 11 minutes ago

What happens when you’re past menopause?

You’re not really in midlife anymore.

You’re not necessarily retired.

Your children may not need you in the same way they once did.

Your career may not define you in the way it used to.

And suddenly you can find yourself standing in this strange no-woman’s-land, asking some very big questions:

Who am I now?

Who needs me?

What is my purpose?

Why am I here?

The other day, one of my clients asked me if she was allowed to join my Sea Change Society women’s circle because she was “past menopause.”

I said, “Oh my goodness, YES! You are exactly who needs to be in the circle.”

But afterwards I realised there was so much more I wanted to say to her.

I wanted to say:

You are fully in your Wise Woman phase.

Your life experience is incredibly valuable to other women.

You may not realise it, but where you are now is somewhere another woman aspires to be.

You've lived.

You've loved.

You've lost things.

You've learned things.

You've probably made some spectacular mistakes along the way. Haven't we all?

And you've gathered wisdom that can't be learned from a book, a podcast, a qualification or a social media post.

Your life skills and knowledge become even more valuable when you share your stories.

Because your worth isn't measured by your career success.

It isn't measured by how productive you are.

And it certainly isn't measured by how many people still “need” you.

Perhaps now it's about something deeper.

The quality of your interactions.

The impact you've had on other people.

The wisdom you pass on.

The way you being truly YOU makes another person feel.

Maybe This Is Why We Need Circles Again

One of the main reasons I created Sea Change Society is because women keep telling me they want more connection.

More community.

More meaningful conversation.

And a safe space to explore the deeper questions of life.

Because when the outside world feels out of balance, we need to find a sense of safety within ourselves.

“But Pip… how do I actually do that?”

I can hear you asking.

I think it starts with three things.

First: acknowledge the truth that perhaps you don't feel safe.

Second: be kind and gentle with yourself about that.

Third: ask for help.

Simple?

Yes.

Easy?

Not necessarily.

Because we live in a world that thrives on drama and demands that we engage with it.

It's difficult when we've been conditioned to check our phones and social media for validation.

It's difficult when, as women, we've often been trained to look after ourselves last.

And it's difficult when so many of the structures around us — workplaces, communities, institutions and governments — were historically designed without women's needs and experiences at their centre.

When the scales haven't always been tipped in your favour, it can be difficult to regain your balance.

To hear yourself again.

To find your own inspiration.

And ultimately, to create a life that works FOR you.

That's where community matters.

It helps to have trusted, like-minded souls you can talk to.

It helps to have women around you who aren't frightened by the big questions.

And sometimes it helps to have a mentor who can simply hold space while you find your own answers.

I Want to Talk About the Big Stuff

This is what I'm most excited about with Sea Change Society.

I want to be in a room with women who want to talk about the deeper stuff.

I want to dive into conversations about the big WHY.

Why am I here?

What am I here to learn?

What happens next?

I want to know how many past lives you think you've had.

I want to hear about your fears and your joys.

I want to discuss books about dreams and dream interpretation.

I want to talk about intuition, synchronicities, spirituality, purpose, ageing, death, rebirth and everything in between.

And yes...

I absolutely want to explore the lighter questions too.

Like:

What does it mean when a ladybug appears on my front door?

Because I love that stuff.

You Are Allowed to Be Here

Women have been gathering in circles for centuries for good reason.

Circles serve a special purpose.

They give us somewhere to tell our stories.

Somewhere to listen.

Somewhere to witness and be witnessed.

Somewhere to remember that we aren't meant to figure everything out alone.

And perhaps that's especially important when you've reached the stage of life where society seems less interested in telling you what comes next.

Maybe that's actually the gift.

Maybe there isn't a prescribed next chapter.

Maybe you get to write it.

So if you're wondering whether you're too old, too young, too far past menopause, not spiritual enough, not certain enough, or whether you've somehow missed your invitation...

You haven't.

You are allowed to be here, Earth Angel.

In fact...

I'm beginning to wonder — and perhaps you are too — whether gathering with other women at this stage of life isn't simply something you could do.

Perhaps it's something your soul has been quietly asking you to do.

Perhaps this is the next step in your human spiritual journey.

I’m also beginning a new YouTube series this week exploring these deeper conversations around midlife and beyond—purpose, spirituality, intuition, ageing, identity, connection and those wonderful big questions that don't always have neat little answers.

Think of it as another place for us to explore the “What now?”

Because I have a feeling there are a lot of us standing in this no-woman's-land together.

And perhaps it isn't no-woman's-land at all.

Perhaps it's simply territory we haven't been encouraged to explore before.

Blessings,

Pip xx
