In this week’s blog, we explored how to distinguish between the heartfelt signs from your departed loved ones and the uplifting messages from angels. Knowing who to call on can make all the difference in your journey!
A lot of women, when they get to the age of “the pause” (45 years+) begin to experience more friends and family making the transition from this life to the next. They also start to become more attuned, sensitive and intuitive during this part of life. So, I inevitably get questions from my coaching clients about what happens to their departed loved ones and is it possible to communicate with them after they’ve passed. The answer is yes.
I believe that understanding the sources of guidance we receive can be transformative and it relieves the frustration of answering “where did this message come from?”. In a recent podcast, I
discuss the distinction between the guidance we receive from angels and that from our departed loved ones, helping us to recognize who to call upon in times of need.

The Nature of Angel Guidance
Angels are often perceived as high vibrational entities, free of ego and judgment. Angelic guidance is characterized by its firm yet kind demeanor. They provide us with messages that encourage us to take action or remind us to rest. For instance, we have two guardian angels – one who motivates and cheers you on during significant life changes and one who gently urge us to pause and nurture ourselves. This guidance is typically felt above the head, around the crown or third eye area, manifesting as sensations that uplift or comfort.
The Role of Departed Loved Ones
In contrast, guidance from departed loved ones is more personal and relatable. These individuals had unique relationships with us during their earthly lives, and their insights are often derived from loving memories and shared experiences. The signs from departed loved ones tend to evoke specific memories, such as a familiar scent or a song that holds sentimental value. For example, my Nanna Coleman makes me sneeze and leaves behind the scent of her talcum powder, Chanel #5, it’s a clear signal that she is nearby offering support. Interestingly, the sneeze comes first and then I smell the scent, not the other way around.
Recognizing Signs from Angels and Departed Loved Ones
The signs we receive from angels and departed loved ones can be strikingly different. Angels often communicate through symbols like feathers, coins, or rainbows, all of which signify their presence and guidance. On the other hand, departed loved ones reach out through more intimate means, such as a specific song, a familiar smell, or even the presence of certain animals that remind us of them. I have some heartwarming stories about my grandparents, detailing how each of them has their unique way of making their presence known, whether through a joyful Christmas song or a comforting presence during meditation. How to Connect with Your Guides
One way to connect with your guides is to decide to actively seek signs from both angels and departed loved ones. Keeping a journal to document experiences and feelings can be extremely beneficial. You can offer up a question to your departed loved ones to answer in their own unique way. Remember that after posing a question to the universe, it’s essential to allow time for responses to come through.
